I was expecting these to be just okay safety glasses, mostly because they’re a YouTube channel’s product. I’ve been burned before by hyped-up crap being flung across YouTube as if it’s the greatest thing ever, so I went into this purchase a little skeptical.
I did have one very specific reason for giving Shop Shades a chance: I have a giant head. Usually, finding glasses that actually fit means compromising somewhere else. But after seeing these fit some larger heads on YouTube—sorry, John, but you do have a big head—and considering how many pairs of glasses I’ve tried and hated over the years, I decided they were worth the risk.
I’m incredibly glad I did.
These aren’t a compromise at all. They are, by far, the most comfortable glasses I have ever worn, safety glasses or otherwise. They fit like a glove, they’re lightweight, they do an excellent job protecting my eyes, and so far they show every sign of being extremely durable.
I bought these hoping to finally find a pair of safety glasses that fit my head properly. Instead, I found my new favorite pair of glasses.
Now I just need to buy extras for the shop, the glovebox, and the toolkit.
Love these glasses so much, even as sunglasses they can't be beat because of the durability and scratch resistance and comfort
Comfortable, functional, and stylish. What more could you ask for? They won’t make you a more skilled craftsman, but that’s OK. My wife thinks I look like Dahmer but they’re sick. I’m not in it for her approval regardless. Do yourself a favor and snag a pair.
WARNING DOES CONTAIN BLOOD IN IMAGES.
I was wearing my shop shades while working with a 8” x 12” steel at an 1/8” thick. While beveling the edge of the plate on a bench sander when the metal was caught and was flung into my face. The glasses saved my eye from being gouged out. They did not save my nose haha! 10/10 would recommend.
I really like Sam's design on this T-shirt, but my wife thinks it's a little racy. Well that's just an invitation to wear this T-shirt every chance I get. Thanks hon. And thanks boys. There's nothing wrong with a little racy action.
